Coal at Dodds has the following specifications:

  • 8500-9000 BTUs per pound.
  • Ash Content: Approximately 7%
  • Sulphur: less than 0.5%
  • Moisture: 20 to 25%
  • The average heat value per tonne of coal is 19.8 gigajoules.

Since 1956, Dodds Coal Mine has been family owned and operated. The coal mine is located approximately 90 km's southeast of Edmonton. Dodds supplies heating coal for residential, commercial & agricultural applications, throughout western Canada.

The coal is sold F.O.B. origin, by the kilogram in any quantity the customer chooses. All coal is weighed on scale and trucked from the site as no rail service is available. Coal is loaded by conveyor belt, and the larger stove coal is loaded with a bucket.
